Dr. Northam enacts his most unscientific policies yet

The Constitution empowers the individual to limit the power of government's influence on We the People.

I wish I could say that there's nothing left that Governor Northam could do that would surprise me, but he somehow manages to always prove me wrong.

Last week Governor Northam announced his latest coronavirus restrictions on the state. According to the Washington Examiner, this includes:

*  A curfew (stay-at-home order) will be in place between midnight and 5:00 a.m., with exceptions for those traveling for work, seeking medical attention, or trying to get food or goods.
* Social gatherings are limited to 10 people, down from the previous 25. Religious, employment, and educational settings are not included.
* A universal mask requirement will also be implemented. Virginians were already required to wear masks in indoor and outdoor public spaces. Masks will be required in private spaces, as well.

Administration officials told The Washington Post, however, that there is no enforcement mechanism for the curfew and that police won't be stopping people during those hours.

While the curfew may be symbolic in nature, it speaks to a bigger point.

As laid out in The Sun (a British newspaper), UK Chief Scientific Advisor Patrick Vallance admits that scientists have found no hard evidence that curfews do anything to stop the spread of the virus.

Furthermore, if the move by Northam is purely symbolic, why issue it at all? The expansion of the mask mandate again falls short of having anything to do with “the science.”

First off, it's important to note that well over 90% of Virginians wear masks, according to a database compiled by Carnegie Mellon University. Additionally, you cannot enter any indoor facility in the state without wearing one.

As demonstrated by reporter Ian Miller, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., all issued mask mandates around the same time.

When tracking the number of cases through the year, we find that the rising and falling of case numbers are nearly identical in each of the listed states/jurisdictions.

This would suggest that the virus makes its way through the different regions of the country at different periods, regardless of human intervention (i.e. mask mandates).

But then again, science doesn't matter to politicians like Northam.  For the progressive-statist, power of and for the government always takes priority over that of the individual.

To borrow a phrase from former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, these COVID restrictions have been nothing more than one big “freedom-destroying cocktail.”

And with this growing threat of tyranny on the rise, there is no better time to call a Convention of States.

The Constitution empowers the individual to limit the power of government's influence on We the People.

Convention of States volunteers and supporters know that Article V of the Constitution is the best way to end the threat of big-government socialism.

Thus they're joining the movement to secure liberty for their children and grandchildren at all levels of government, and specifically to address federal tyranny.

Join our fight and sign the petition to call a Convention of States.
