| ==== What: TOWN HALL MEETING - Convention of States ==== ==== Where: Evansville Community Center, 71 Curtis Street ==== ==== When: Thursday, Aug 13th, 6-8pm ==== Wyoming State Senate candidate Ryan Jackson will help facilitate this community conversation about the Convention of States (COS) initiative, so that you can be more informed about the goals of the COS organization and the convention of states process. You are invited to engage in debate with volunteer representatives of COS. They will be in attendance as advocates for the following limited number of proposed themes for amendments to the US Constitution utilizing the Article V State Convention process: Impose Term Limits on Federal Officials Impose Fiscal Restraints on the Federal Government Reduce the Power & Jurisdiction of the Federal Government COS contends that the absolute dysfunction of the federal government is demonstrated daily in Washington DC. Congress will never make the hard decisions to keep from bankrupting our children and our grandchildren. Nor will federal officials voluntarily give up the power they have accumulated and end corruption among the political elite in Washington DC. Therefore, COS stresses that it's our responsibility - We The People - to take back our Government and return power to the states as originally intended by the Framers of the Constitution. In 2020 we need to add Wyoming to the growing National momentum for an amendments convention process. In just the past few years, 15 of the required 34 states have, by resolution of their state legislatures, agreed to participate in an Article V amendments convention. All are welcome so please invite family, friends and neighbors. We look forward to seeing you there for a lively, respectful community conversation. |
