Montana Petitions

Mr. Chairman and Committee Members

Hi, my name is Diane Wyrick. I am a volunteer for the Montana Convention of States Action team. We live in Forsyth, MT (House District 35). I apologize for not being able to attend in person but with your permission I will have Dan MacLean physically submit the documentation I am submitting to this committee.

The Montana Convention of States Action currently have over 20,000 signed petition supporters. This support has doubled in the past 4 years. The public support for our state to join the 19 others in the request to call an Article V meeting has continued to rise as the voting public becomes more disenchanted with the performance of the Federal Government. For reference, COSA has submitted to this committee a printed hard copy list of all petition signatures broken down and grouped by electoral house district.

These are your constituents asking for you to support the COSA Resolution, requesting a Convention of the States meeting for the purpose of proposing amendments to the US Constitution. Please feel free to review your district, we have included this list of petition signers/supporters (by district) in the packet you were given. I looked up the constituents for each of the committee member districts and they ranged from 104 in one district up to 549 in one district - Majority of the districts (12) had over 200 petition signers for their district.

I would also like to submit “written testimonies” from your fellow Montanan’s. We have written statements from 61 house districts and 156 written statements all together.

We are Convention of States volunteers - we spend our own money and our own time trying to help educate Montanans regarding Convention of State. We want Montana to be number 20 of the 34 states required to call together an Article V meeting. We urge you to consider this support and vote yes on this resolution.
