COS Virginia recruits Patriots at Independence Day Soiree

The energy from COS Virginia added to the fireworks of excitement on this patriotic day.

How better to celebrate Independence than by sharing how Article V of the Constitution empowers We the People to rein in the federal leviathan?

Convention of States volunteers from Northern Virginia did just that at the Fourth of July Conservative Soiree at Occoquan Regional Park.

This highly-attended annual event was hosted by the Leadership Institute, an organization led by COS endorser Morton Blackwell.

Patriotic Convention of States volunteers turned out from all across Northern Virginia to collect petitions. State Director Dennis Denton even drove up from the Shenandoah to help Team NoVA.

Team members explained how Convention of States is an amendment-proposing convention that will reduce the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government by keeping the original intent of the Constitution.

DC William Lucke, RC John Dahmen, and volunteer Jordan Dahmen talked to passers-by.

The Dahmen Duo are a father-and-son team who shared their story of supporting self-governance here.

Meanwhile State Communications Coordinator Laurie Hackett plastered photos of the day all over Facebook, which sparked further discussions about limited government.
