Frustration with the federal government continues to skyrocket, crossing party lines. NOW is the time to unite behind a nationwide effort to call a Convention of States and propose ironclad amendments that cut the congressional credit card and force the feds to live on a budget. The Founders entrusted us with Article V for just such a time as this… a time when the feds have grown so massive and corrupt that they will never limit their own power. Here’s the good news, 19 states have already passed our Resolution to call the convention and it only takes 34 to make it happen. In a matter of weeks, 41 states will kick off their legislative sessions, many of which have pending COS Resolutions, ready to be heard. Now is the time to sprint across the finish line while the public sentiment is on our side. Take time to introduce yourself and your organization to public officials serving your community – including both federal and state representatives. Make an appointment and discuss: 1- Their stance on Convention of States. 2- What Bills they are working on that COS could possibly get behind and support. 3- Notify your District Captain, or Regional Captain, or Legislative Liaison with the results after contacting them. Well, the elections are over. Individuals have been elected to office in the various races. Many of them were “uncontested” races, but they were still elected. So, now what? It seems that our society has the impression that they have done their duty and now it’s up to the elected officials to do their part. Actually, voting (or not voting) is just the tip of the iceberg . Let me put it this way. Whether you voted for the individual that is elected or not, they are still your political servants. The citizens in this country are the sovereigns. Therefore, “We the People” retain the rights to governance no matter who is elected to the office. I have heard it said by some elected officials that, “You put me into office now I will do what I think is right.” Would you hire a servant to take care of your household business and then never tell that servant how you want the household to run? Obviously not. The mindset of the citizens as well as those elected must change. The public servants we elect to office are there to do the bidding of the citizenry, not to tell the citizenry how things are going to be done. Just because they are elected to office doesn’t mean that they have the right to ignore the citizens and do what they want. However, if the citizenry doesn’t make any effort to give guidance to the elected officials, then they get the feeling that whatever they do is, not IN the best interest of the public but IS, the best interest of the public. That is why voting is just the tip of the iceberg . It doesn’t matter if the person we voted for gets into office or not, the one individual that won the election is still our representative in whatever office they are elected to. Their responsibility is to listen to their constituents and evaluate whether the issue is in the best interests of all their constituents, not just those who voted for them, but if they never hear from their constituents, well then …We need to be in contact with our representatives!!!
