COS, DOGE and Snowflakes
Conceptually, Social Security numbers (SSN), like snowflakes, are supposed to be unique and assigned to one individual and one ONLY. But…are these numbers truly unique identifiers? The answer is: No!
Social Security Numbers: One of a Kind or One of Many? Growing up we were taught in school that no two snowflakes were alike. Nature produces tiny ice crystals that are truly unique in shape and size by the trillions. Conceptually, Social Security numbers (SSN), like snowflakes, are supposed to be unique and assigned to one individual and one ONLY.Natural processes create unique snowflakes through environmental variations but SSNs are a creation of government to track earnings and taxes by individual. The Social Security Administration (SSA) maintains a central database for creating and monitoring SSNs. But…are these numbers truly unique identifiers? The answer is: No! DOGE and Social Security Database Discovery (duplicate keys and incommunicative systems) The reason SSNs are NOT unique was discovered by DOGE back in February 2025 and relates to database structure. Without getting into the weeds, government failed to assign SSNs as unique identifiers in the Social Security database. This means a SSN can be used by multiple individuals. ![]() To make matters even worse, government systems are largely unable to communicate cross-system. Ninety years of SSA data is stored on paper, magnetic tapes, microfiche and myriad computer systems. Can this Babylon of data be consolidated into standardized format? Maybe! Ramifications of Duplicates and Incompatible Systems How has SSN duplication and inability to coordinate data systems affected America’s bottom line? Here are a just a FEW items: ![]() * Less than a week after the SSN duplication announcement, the congressional DOGE subcommittee announced $2.7 TRILLION on improper payments since 2005. * DOGE team found that expired programs are receiving hundreds of billions of dollars annually. * The lack of auditing has cast suspicion that over 90% of Treasury payments may be fraudulent particularly pertaining to SS and Medicare. * DOGE recommended that SS recipients present personally to their local offices when changing banking information. This became necessary after DOGE discovered that 40% of all calls were fraudulent attempts to redirect banking deposits. * $300M in Small Business Administration (SBA) loans given out to children under 11 years old and another $300M in SBA loans given to people over the age of 120 years. THIS is an example of BOTH duplicate SSNs and non-compatible agency computer systems. * 2.1 Million non-citizens were given SSNs in just 2024 alone. DOGE Corrections In light of the poor database practices exposed by DOGE, the SSA has begun a massive cleanup of its records. This and other efforts have been assisted by DOGE personnel: ![]() * DOGE has discovered that the number of active SSNs greatly exceeds the number of US citizens. * DOGE brought about USAID closure for misdirection of foreign aid billions without direct congressional oversight and payment authorizations. USAID functions have since been rolled into the US Department of State. * Elon Musk’s goal is to reduce spending through elimination of fraud and abuse coupled with efficiency improvements (make computer/data systems compatible across the government) to the tune of $1 Trillion in deficit savings. * Make the DOGE process transparent and sustainable. Any and all actions are and will be posted at the official DOGE website: https://www.doge.gov/ DOGE is the Sunlight and Article V is the Disinfectant The old adage states that “Sunlight is the best disinfectant” and Elon Musk’s DOGE team has certainly delivered the light. In order to disinfect the fraud, abuse and inefficiencies, however, more than DOGE will be necessary. The current executive and legislative branches can make patchwork fixes through executive orders and targeted statutes but these are short term and narrow scope solutions. ![]() To truly and permanently disinfect the federal bureaucracy, a return to a Founding-Father philosophy is necessary: separation of power. The “Several States” have the wherewithal and the right to discover and correct abuses and inefficiencies placed on “We the People.” The Convention of States Article V movement proposed in its 2023 simulated convention that: Federal Term Limits & Judicial Jurisdiction Proposal 2: “Section 2. Each of the several states shall have standing to bring an action challenging the constitutionality of any action of the Executive Branch or any enactment of Congress.” Federal Legislative & Executive Jurisdiction Proposal 2: “Section 1. The Legislatures of the States shall have authority to abrogate any action of Congress, President, or administrative agencies of the United States, whether in the form of a statute, decree, order, regulation, rule, opinion, decision, or other form…” These two proposals allow states to challenge federal action/inaction on both individual and collective levels through individual court filings or collective rejection. The hope is that DOGE continues to illuminate problems while Article V enables the states to enact permanent solutions. ![]() If you are shocked by the abuses and inefficiencies discovered in just the first few weeks of 2025 by DOGE, please consider joining the COS Article V movement by signing the Article V Petition. If you have the time and inclination to volunteer in one of many available roles, your presence will be warmly welcomed. # | PETITION_WIDGET{petition_tag:COS, DOGE and Snowflakes;coalition_id:;anedot_url:} | # |
