We can venture to say that most of America agrees with the idea that members of this ruthless and vicious gang, unlawfully permitted to enter our country, should be lawfully expelled. This is backed by a March 25 Rasmussen report poll whose results show 64% support deporting these gang members. After all, none of these serious criminals would have been legally processed in accordance with our standard immigration procedures, as they would not have met minimal requirements for entry. A few might eventually be redeemed, but at what cost, in the interim, to all who have or will have been victimized (assaulted, robbed or raped)? It is notable that those who vocally oppose deportation of these criminals are apt to be living in areas exempt from much of the crime or can afford to have levels of private protection, whereas the victims lack such security. It is often that way, wherein vocal progressives with undue media influence often ride roughshod over those whose interests and wellbeing they claim to be representing. This viewpoint dovetails with what we believe is notable support for ICE officers conducting their dangerous daily round ups of such illegal criminals. George Orwell wrote: “We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.” The right balance is needed, as we are also acutely aware of the risks of policing becoming too authoritarian… with the inherent damage that potentially weakens the 1st or 2nd amendments. The pendulum swings and common sense eventually prevails. The middle ground is ideal, a reflection of the majority reverting to common sense.. where beforehand we have witnessed widespread acceptance of shoplifting without recourse or serious criminals being released all too quickly onto urban streets to commit more crimes. To balance what Orwell said with another quote, this one from Thomas Jefferson whose birthday was 282 years ago today(!) : “The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution, so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.” Please review and support our common sense, balanced, peaceful, constitutional and practical grass roots movement! Yes… Amendments are the best way to cement real lasting change. An Article V Convention is a gift the Framers gave us to establish the balance most of us truly seek.
