| > “For more than a decade before the outbreak of the American Revolution in 1775, tensions had been building between colonists and the British authorities.” History.com Britain continually raised taxes on the colonies to cover expenses for the French & Indian War (1756-1763) which was Britain’s battle with France for control over new territories in America.  Colonists’ frustration with taxes and regulations turned to resistance and eventual violence such as the Boston Massacre and the Tea Party. Government retaliation in the form of the Coercive Acts solidified support for the patriot cause, the common cause.The Revolutionary patriots fought for the rights to self-determination, property ownership, and representation in government. Today, Americans have a new list of grievances against an unresponsive government. Our tax dollars are being used to support massive demographic and philosophical changes to the American founding principles. Today’s representatives favor global over individual rights and socialist distribution of property regardless of ownership or merit. To maintain control and power, elected officials, judges, and bureaucrats defy the Constitution and disregard the will of We the People. Loyalists, Fence-sitters, and Patriots > “American patriots won the war of propaganda. Committees of Correspondence persuaded many fence-sitters to join the patriot cause. Writings such as Thomas Paine's “Common Sense” stirred newfound American nationalism.” UShistory.org Just as in pre-revolutionary times, many citizens may be fence-sitters who don’t want to get involved, risk personal loss, or disrupt the status quo. Some may be loyal to the existing system because of perceived benefits from the ever-growing welfare state. COS encourages citizen participation in government. COS exists to convene a convention of states to explore proposed amendments regarding term limits, fiscal responsibility, and reduced federal overreach. COS is building an engaged army of self-governing grassroots activists to be the patriots we need today. COS is engaged in a new propaganda war and will educate you and offer pathways to effectively communicate with your elected representatives. Get Off the Fence On February 20, 2024, COS will convene in Tallahassee, Florida’s state capitol, to reignite belief in Article V as the solution big enough to solve our current problems. We need your presence in Tallahassee to demonstrate our serious commitment. We need your active participation to fight distortions of American history and disintegration of our founding values.
