Charlie Kirk’s Great Crime: Speaking Truth
Today, Charlie Kirk is dead for the great crime of speaking Truth to a generation that did not want to hear it.
| “Some men just want to watch the world burn.” This famous line from The Dark Knight perfectly encapsulates the mentality of many on the radical left. Today, the nation got a taste of the utterly senseless violence radical leftism can — and inevitably will — unleash. Charlie Kirk, the great conservative trailblazer, Turning Point founder, and once-in-a-generation political icon, is dead. He was brutally shot and killed while speaking to students at Utah Valley University. He leaves behind a wife and two young kids. He was only 31. First, we must acknowledge the massive debt of gratitude the modern conservative movement owes Charlie. No one — absolutely no one — has done more in this generation to mobilize young people for traditional American values than Charlie. Over the past decade, Charlie has single-handedly transformed the American political landscape, unquestionably for the better. As far as we knew, on the morning of September 10, 2025, his inimitable career was just beginning. Like the Conservative Greats before him — Rush Limbaugh, David Horowitz, Dr. James Dobson — he should have enjoyed many more decades on this earth, fighting for the country and watching his family grow up. But alas, America is no longer the nation she once was. Today, Charlie Kirk is dead for the great crime of speaking Truth to a generation that did not want to hear it. We must be very clear about this. Two young children will grow up without a father…because Charlie exercised his First Amendment rights. An American patriot was cut down in his prime…because Charlie dialogued respectfully with his opponents. Conservatives lost the best of us…because Charlie refused to be silent. This is unsustainable. America cannot — I repeat, cannot — survive as a nation if we continue to murder those who bring unpopular or controversial ideas into the public square. Radical leftism — but, more fundamentally, the satanic powers of hell — have unleashed a great evil on this country. Something must change. Fellow citizens, America is dying before our very eyes. The question is, what are we going to do about it? Charlie Kirk gave us his answer. He lived it. We must not let that sacrifice, nor his many years of faithful service, go to waste. There are people in this country who truly want to watch the whole thing burn to the ground. Today’s violence was a byproduct of that mentality. We must respond to them as Charlie responded. Not with more violence, but by combating their ideas on the frontlines of courteous debate. If we fail to do so, the day is fast approaching — and may already be upon us — when the fear of the assassin’s bullet effectively negates the Freedom of Speech. Charlie Kirk, a courageous fighter until the end, knew the risk. His bold defense of freedom, truth, and a future for his kids cost him his life. And yet, if only we could hear from him now, I believe he would say, “I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country.” Pray for his family. Pray for America. May God bless the memory of Charlie Kirk. And may God grant us the courage to take up his mantle and finish his fight. |
