CALL TO ACTION
![]() ![]() A call to action (CTA) is a concise prompt designed to spur an immediate response from an audience, guiding them toward a specific action. A political call to action (CTA) is a strategy used to mobilize individuals or groups for political engagement. Common types of CTAs used by Convention of States (COS) and COSLA include: * Petitions: Collecting signatures to demonstrate support for a cause or policy change. (i.e. an Article V amendment convention) * Legislative CTAs: Encouraging constituents to contact their representatives to influence policy decisions. On April 23rd, our state director, Julie Sandifer, emailed the COSLA volunteers with a CALL TO ACTION. The subject was paper ballots. The CTA also included an overview of the CTA request and its rationale. Some of the content is shown below. | == Last Fall, COS Louisiana joined other organizations in calling on Governor Jeff Landry to use his emergency powers to print paper ballots for the November election. Governor Landry agreed and ultimately printed paper ballots utilizing Louisiana's absentee ballot system. == == Now, COS Louisiana is taking it to the next level, but we need YOUR help! Contact your Louisiana officials and urge them to allow the use of paper ballots for ALL Louisiana elections! . . . == == There are a number of reasons why paper ballots are important for our state: == == 1. Paper Ballots can be audited - Currently, Louisiana's elections cannot be audited due to the proprietary software in the machines which cannot be revealed, even to election officials. == == 2. Louisiana's Voting System Commission recommended paper - The VCS recommended voters be given the option of paper ballots at each precinct. == == 3. Paper ballots are cheaper - Watermarked, secure ballots are cheaper than the current $100 million estimated cost for new machines. Some estimates indicate that secure watermarked ballots cost only 8% of the machine cost. We don't need to spend millions on voting machines when paper is not only cheaper, but also safer. == == 4. Voting machines are vulnerable - These voting machines are simply computers and, as Elon Musk and Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, have pointed out, all computers can be hacked. == | By clicking on the hyperlink within the CTA you get to the site where you can execute a ‘submit’ and complete the Action. EASY PEASY ===== COSLA NEEDS YOUR HELP: This is such an easy way for us COSLA volunteers to influence the legislation in our state that we have targeted to support. All legislation that we track and 'work on' is approved by the national COS. ===== ===== It is directly connected to the F3 ideals of Freedom, Federalism, or Fundamental Rights. ===== ===== WHAT CAN YOU DO?? ===== ===== Sooooo - Please be on the look-out for CTAs which will be coming out soon. They are sent to your email and typically need a quick response. ===== ===== To my COSLA associates throughout the state: ===== ===== CTA's are not rocket science. The response process is straightforward and uncomplicated. ===== ![]() ===== We need you. And remember. ===== ===== EASY PEASY ===== Allons!
