Boundless Energy and Effort Are Honored

North Carolina's own busy bee Ellen Bertelsen became queen bee for a day. She was surprised to receive special recognition as attendees from at least five counties celebrated her.

North Carolina's own busy bee became queen bee for a day. Ellen Bertelsen was surprised at her district COS meeting by a special recognition. Attendees from at least five counties were present as she was awarded a tiara and Convention of States Patriot Pin with certificate.

Watch Ellen receive her award with accolades from her COS teammates and leaders.

Ellen, who is also known as The Energizer Bunny, never has an idle moment. Bertelsen has served for two years as the district captain for HD68, and is one of the finest supporters of other COS volunteers in the region at their events. She hosts well-attended monthly meetings and especially promotes veteran participation. Ellen learned about Convention of States through Biblical Citizenship and now serves as a Patriot Academy Coach. To further her mission of saving our country, she is her local precinct secretary.

Bertelsen was 36 years old when she joined the US Navy as a nurse; a daughter was already serving in the Navy. She was stationed at Camp LeJeune North Carolina, Rota Spain, Philadelphia Naval Hospital, and Patuxent River Maryland doing her 15 year career in the military. Retired now, she enjoys her 3 children and 31 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She divides her time between her house in Waxhaw and a cabin in Lansing North Carolina.

As if her grassroots activities were not enough, Ellen paints, knits, does counted-cross-stitch, sews, and plays musical instruments (piano, cello, autoharp, and organ). She is very active in her church.

Ellen is on fire for liberty and well deserving of the honors bestowed on her.

Congratulations to Ellen!
