BLM - More Federal Government Overreach
| The Federal Government is at it again - overstepping it's constitutional boundaries. The Federal Bureau of Land Management, BLM, is planning to designate off limits to Wyoming citizens millions of acres of Wyoming land, portions of Lincoln, Sweetwater, Uinta, Sublette and Fremont counties Their new Resource Management Plan will block public access for hunting and other recreation, ranching, mining, essentially blocking any potential for economic activity. Instead the land will be designated “Areas of Critical Environmental Concern”. This will significantly affect Wyoming economically and prevent the use by Wyoming citizens of Wyoming land which is under the management of the Federal Government. Yet another reason why we need a Convention of States, to Reduce the Power and Jurisdiction of the Federal Government. One of the amendments proposed at the Article V Simulated Convention in August reads, in part, “Except with the permission of the Legislature of the State where the land is located, the national government shall not own, regulate, or control land or mineral rights, nor the proceeds from the sale of the same.” You can read the whole amendment, and others, HERE This land grab by the Federal Government is not new. See how much land in the West is controlled by the Federal Government and listen to Utah State Representative, Ken Ivory, discuss the issue. Ivory is a champion of Convention of States and has been fighting the land grabs for years. The Federal Government controls almost 50% (46.7%) of the land in Wyoming. This will not end with restrictions on so called 'public lands'. One can look overseas to see what else might be coming, an example is England. One's private property rights are restricted if you happen to live in a designated “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. We have been subject to similar encroachments on private property rights with the “Waters of the United States” regulations. Continue to reach out to your Wyoming State Legislators by clicking HERE Let them know we can either fight the Federal Government one lawsuit at a time, essentially playing 'whack a mole', or make a Constitutional change that will stop this abuse in it's tracks. |
